Spring 2007
President’s Message: Paul Madore 835-8366
Welcome to our first all electronic newsletter. Please encourage everyone you meet to submit their email address to me to be included on the distribution list. Summer is rapidly approaching and I have been asked to remind everyone of several items that are most irritating to many within the neighbourhood. First is to remind everyone who owns a dog that they must keep their pet on a leash at all times and that they must clean up after their dog. This is the most common complaint that I hear throughout the neighbourhood. The second is that of noise, particularly around the parks in the evening, but also from yard to yard. The complaint is that of excessive noise from stereos (both car and home). Please be considerate of everyone and turn the volume down.
To the residents that are affected, please refer to the HRM webpage. Note that bylaws D-100 and N-200 apply in these cases.
The AGM will be held in the early fall. Please consider becoming a part of the Resident’s Association this fall. We are in desperate need of new ideas and new people to fill several key positions such as recreation (no committee = no project) and social (no parties or social events). Recently, AGMs are attended by only between 6 and 10 people. We have over 300 homes in our neighbourhood and we hope that there would be more interest in how our neighbourhood is developed.
For the upcoming address changes, please note the following tips and hints
Canada Post has sent out address packages in late May. This was a bit late because most institutions and magazine subscriptions usually require 6-8 weeks to make the change, but I am assured the Canada Post will forward mail to the new address for 3 months or so for free.
You should also have your new blue reflective address plate. As of 18 June 2007, it should be placed near the street on your property to correctly identify your home. For you own safety, please ensure that it is displayed and is visible from the street.
HRM will deliver the new mapping with the new addresses and name changes to the local fire and RCMP plus the EHS station before the effective date of 18 June.
Any questions or concerns to HRM may be directed to Gayle MacLean, HRM Civic Addressing Corrections, 490-4105.
Don’t forget the dozens of magazines, credit cards, registrations, institutions, family, friends, work, associations, unions, clubs, warranties, memberships, etc that need to be advised of the change of address. This is a long time consuming process. Good luck!
